Miracle in the Andes

Nando Parrado

In 1972, a plane carrying a Uruguayan rugby team crashed high in the Andes. Nando Parrado was on that flight. This book is his account of the weeks that followed: waiting for rescue that did not come, surviving in the cold with almost nothing, and eventually walking for days across the mountains to find help. It is about what the group went through, and what it took for a few of them to get out.

Parrado focuses on what they actually did day to day: the decisions, the mistakes, the physical work of getting off the mountain.
