I Escaped from Auschwitz
Rudolf Vrba
Rudolf Vrba was sent to Auschwitz as a teenager in 1942. The book covers his years inside the camp, how he watched what was happening, and how he escaped in 1944 with another prisoner, Alfred Wetzler. After they got out, they wrote one of the first detailed reports on Auschwitz that reached the outside world. A big part of the story is not just getting free, but making sure people knew the truth.
The escape is only part of the story. Vrba wanted the information to reach people who could act on it, and he explains that goal clearly throughout.
