Man's Search for Meaning
Viktor E. Frankl
Austrian psychiatrist Viktor Frankl wrote this after surviving Auschwitz and other camps during the Holocaust. The book combines his memoir with an outline of logotherapy, his theory that finding purpose is the central human drive.
The camp sections are hard to read, but Frankl does not dress them up. What stayed with me was his point that suffering is not optional, but how you respond to it is. He writes about that plainly, without pretending there are easy answers.
